00:04:19
Authorities in Cameroon are appealing for
calm this after hundreds of you marched
00:04:24
through the streets of die one day
celebrating what they called the victory of
00:04:29
their candidate Maryse camp hosts and

00:04:49
Hundreds of young people demonstrating

the ruling came on people's democratic

00:05:24
To counter the declaration made by come
to practice and talk committee secretary

the Navy of the youths and sent them into

00:05:54

00:06:51
a code states election results are proclaimed
by the Constitutional Council 15 days
00:06:57
after the pools it's
00:06:59
a bit early publication of results
government spokesman in such
00:07:04
a rumor says sanctions are being prepared
for come to. Libby and anyone who takes
00:07:10
it upon himself to

00:07:13

notice that they are already taken Sunday's
00:07:43
poor was mobbed by low turn out especially
in the English speaking north west and
00:07:48
south west of regions where separatists
fighting for independence are vowed the
00:07:54
polls will not that please despite the
timeline Bia one of Africa's longest

00:08:21
The u.s.
00:08:22
Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki
Haley today announced she would resign at
00:08:28
the end of the year President Donald
Trump praised her work at the u.n.
00:08:32
And in the administration Haley said she
was proud of our work and that now the
00:08:37
u.s.
00:08:38
Is respected internationally she thanked the
president and his family for their support
00:08:44
she did not say what she planned to do
next via ways White House correspondent
00:08:49
Patsy would across the water spoke with our
colleague Kate Poland Boston about the
00:08:54
surprise announcement Well
what we know is that that was
00:08:58
a very effusive send off from the president
and this is very different from the
00:09:03
usual cabinet 2nd cabinet member leaving
his or her post President Trump spoke very
00:09:09
highly of embassador Hayley and she and
he did say that you know she mentioned 6
00:09:15
months ago that she was thinking about
taking some time off and basically we don't
00:09:19
really know much about the resignation other
than what was said today at the press
00:09:24
conference which is
00:09:25
a she's saying until the end of the
year and also that she is. Leaving
00:09:33
not just for personal reasons because her
family is so supportive of her but she
00:09:38
just said and I quote I know that when
it's time to step aside and she also wants
00:09:43
to make war to make sure that this
administration has the best person to fight this
00:09:48
fight at the United Nations so we don't
really know what that means the other thing
00:09:53
that she mentioned was that she believed
in term limits and she's also saying that
00:09:58
she is not running and 2020 as
00:10:01
a presidential candidate now we
know that as journalists whenever
00:10:04
a politician says that they're not running
it just makes us want. Watch them more
00:10:08
because they always say that they're not
running until they do President Trump said
00:10:12
that he will appoint
00:10:14
a new successor in 2 or 3 weeks again
there's already so much speculation on that
00:10:18
person as well what was her role
in setting porn policy as the u.n.
00:10:24
Ambassador when the how he is certainly
someone that is very trusted in Tom circle
00:10:30
and she's also widely regarded as one of
the strongest members of the president's
00:10:34
foreign policy team and I I do recall
that when she accepted the job as u.n.
00:10:39
Ambassador she requested specifically to
President Trump that she will be involved
00:10:43
in policy and decision making process and
he did grant her that request but we also
00:10:48
have to remember that she's
00:10:49
a very early and frequent critic of Trump
on issues like racism on the Muslim ban
00:10:55
we have to remember remember that she's
00:10:57
a daughter of an immigrant for South
and that background may perhaps affect
00:11:00
a world view and during
her one year one and
00:11:04
a half years on the job she has repeatedly
spoken her mind in some cases quite
00:11:09
against the president's policies himself
you know Ambassador Haley has visited
00:11:14
Africa and was involved in
00:11:15
a number of issues concerning the continent
was her stance on Africa seen as
00:11:22
being different than that of the White House
I would say that her stance on Africa
00:11:27
is different from the White House in the
in the sense that it is more nuanced The
00:11:31
general perception is that the
Trump White House does not put
00:11:35
a lot of emphasis on Africa does not see
Africa beyond the lenses of countering
00:11:40
China's influence or helping in the fight
against terrorism or humanitarian aid
00:11:45
which President Trump has proposed to cut
I think embassador Hal Hal you saw Africa
00:11:51
as much more than this as we can see from
her op at before departing on her 2017
00:11:56
African trip where she
argued that the u.s.
00:11:59
Interest in Africa are not just humanitarian
but also economic and strategic you
00:12:05
would recall that Howley visits and
even. South Sudan and the d.r.s.
00:12:09
In 2017 to review u.s.
00:12:11
Supported un peacekeeping mission there
assess conflict resolution in South Sudan
00:12:16
and also delayed elections in the d.r.s.
00:12:18
Sea and she delivered a very strong message
to the leaders of South Sudan and the
00:12:22
d r c that the u.s.
00:12:23
Would hold them accountable for their actions
so the general consensus consensus on
00:12:28
Africa is that she redeemed previous gaffes
the previous missteps from Trump and
00:12:33
the administration on Africa her stance is
definitely more nuanced I think she was
00:12:38
able to translate
00:12:39
a lot of the policy that was not very much
well articulated from the White House on
00:12:45
on the un on Africa that was White House
correspondent Patsy. Speaking with Kate
00:12:51
pound Dawson.
00:13:01
The World Bank says Kenya has made modest
but sustained progress in reducing
00:13:05
poverty over the last decade its latest
report says the share of the population
00:13:10
living below the poverty line fell
from 46.8 percent in 200506 to 36
00:13:17

Ruben trauma reports the international
00:13:24
Linda sees progress came mainly in rural
areas where poverty levels declined from
00:13:30
50 percent to 38 percent poverty
incidence remained unchanged.
00:13:38
Philippe Jaramillo is there was bank Kenya
country director Kenya's annual g.d.p.
00:13:44
Growth rate has averaged 5.3 percent this
is the number to significantly above
00:13:51
the average for sub-Saharan Africa
which is only $4.00. 91 of the truly
00:13:58
important. Parts of this period has
been the remarkable expansion of
00:14:03
telecommunications in more while financial
services which has shifted carriers
00:14:09
economic paradigm to an extent in the
speed rarely seen in developing countries
00:14:17
poverty reduction in Kenya is low when
compared with other countries in the
00:14:21
Sub-Saharan Africa region
but not when compared with
00:14:25
a lot me 2 income countries wild why'd
they see any award beneficial says'
00:14:30
consumption has grown significantly among
households in the bottom 40 percent of
00:14:36
the distribution and particularly among the
poorest of the poor at the same talk in
00:14:42

whether from some strong shocks the
00:14:48
outbreak of political
violence. In 2007 the
00:14:54
2008 financial global financial
crisis and the very harsh drought
00:15:01
that struck the Horn of Africa in 2002
which was then aggravated by rising
00:15:09
oil prices however economists warned about
the East African largest economy is
00:15:15
falling short as it is not on track
to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030.
00:15:22
Main Job mantilla He's an
economist at the water bank and
00:15:26
a lead author of the report the difference
between the poverty rate in urban areas
00:15:32
it's basically no different from what
it was before that has resulted in
00:15:37
a. Urbanization of poverty the number
of women poor are increased by 1500000
00:15:44
from 2300000 to 3800000 in 10
years Nonetheless the majority of
00:15:51
the poor almost 80 percent still live in
rural areas so we must not forget about
00:15:58
poor he says and actions to help those
people in rural areas be out of be out of
00:16:03
poverty she said inequality is rising in
areas within Nairobi poverty is highly
00:16:10
concentrated in informal settlements we
are living conditions. Than those in

similar settlements in other
major African cities nearly
00:16:19
a 3rd of the residents in informal

an armed group advanced into the heart of

00:19:01
African women conservationists across the
continent are taking the lead to protect
00:19:06
elephants through the elephant protection
initiative also known as when men from
00:19:11
various African countries are working
together to reduce the plummeting populations
00:19:16
of elephants despite their differing
political and social environments while
00:19:21
inspiring
00:19:22
a new generation of conservationists these
women are pushing for the implementation
00:19:27
of the National elephant action plans drawn
up by African governments to protect
00:19:32
their elephant populations
the initiative will be
00:19:35
a major player at the illegal wildlife
trafficking conference taking place in
00:19:39
London October 11th and 12th Dr Wendy Kira
is the technical advisor for the e.p.i.
00:19:46
She spoke with me about the importance
of this initiative. It brings to give
00:19:51
a very high level political will for
Ellison conservation because it is
00:19:55
a presidential led initiative it brings
together heads of state in these tests from
00:20:01
Africa to speak about Elephant Conservation
The 2nd thing way it's important is
00:20:06
that from 4 years ago when it was touted
it has been able to good rule from 5
00:20:12
countries to 19 countries in this
country to present the largest elephant
00:20:18
populations in Africa so we have Kenya
we have built one now we have times on
00:20:23
a mission to the south all
countries that have very like
00:20:26
a simple commission so when you bring
together that kind of pollen and initiative
00:20:31
political power I think that what
you're saying is that you can make
00:20:35
a difference that's what the e.p.i.
00:20:37
Hopes to do why have women taken on this
type of challenge I would say that in the
00:20:43
consolation world not all there are many
women that have reason through the wrong
00:20:50
farm policy and that look if you live well
I'm talking about some Ministry of your
00:20:55
level of technical advice or
00:20:57
a level boots on the ground you know women
need security services and the reason I
00:21:02
think is just the
realisation that wildlife
00:21:06
a wildlife resource is everybody's business
everybody has just to have hung on the
00:21:11
back it is not culturally easy for women
in Africa to get involved in the field of
00:21:17
conservation because by nature conservation
takes you away from home conservation
00:21:22
puts you in dangerous situations in the
field conservation puts you at the table
00:21:28
with
00:21:29
a large percentage of men and for your voice
to be had you have to really be strong
00:21:35
and so it is
00:21:36
a really moving away from the cultural
construct of the African woman why do we do
00:21:41
this because we have to because we must
we recognise that our voice must be heard
00:21:47
as far as conservation in Africa. Johnson
What progress are you making in getting
00:21:53
the national Allison action plans implemented
nationally to fund action plans our
00:21:58
vision fitting for time to
enough because it's been
00:22:01
a long journey some when we 1st thought
about this national in the front of some
00:22:04
crimes because it's really
00:22:06
a 2 years ago but after that came together
and thought we need some from for
00:22:11
Africa's elephants It took a long
time for the countries to get to give
00:22:15
a because they left from vehicle they left
00:22:17
a forum where they could focus clearly on
nationally to find out some plan when the
00:22:22
elephant protection initiative came
to be it became a pillar of e.p.i.
00:22:27
To ensure that countries develop national
If on top some fronts we have walked
00:22:31
slowly with members of elephant protection
initiative and we're happy to say that
00:22:36
during this on them conference we have
00:22:38
a package of 7 complete nationalism
runs by complete we mean an action plan
00:22:45
with an implementation plan and the resource
mobilization front when we budgeted to
00:22:51
the extent that any do not
complete up the document pick up
00:22:54
a few projects and pay out what this band
is it's important because it brings the
00:22:59
whole of thought around and it's on
conservation in one document you are there at
00:23:04
the wildlife trafficking conference in
London so what are the expectations
00:23:09
regarding putting elephant protection as
00:23:12
a main priority they are the elephant
protection initiative was launched 4 years
00:23:18
ago at the illegal wildlife trade conference
that was held in London the e.p.a.

Was launched by 5 presidents now we have
19 heads of state and them in the so said
00:23:28
health science in this initiative
00:23:29
a good number of family will be present at
this conference we expect that when this
00:23:35
kind of political will come by and we've
00:23:38
a lot of global friends who are also going
to be in the conference don't that's
00:23:42
a tough historically supported and of some
protection expect that when the see how
00:23:47
often to has to come together and the
pa why they've put behind Elephant
00:23:51
Conservation the Vis is going to result
in resources that we badly need to
00:23:56
implement these plans. That was Dr Wendy
she's the technical advisor for the
00:24:02
elephant protective initiative
she spoke with me from London.
00:24:12
Celebrates 56 years of independence in
00:24:15
a speech to mark the your cation President
Yoweri most 70 touted some of his
00:24:21
governments or chief moments in building
infrastructure and pushing economic growth
00:24:27
he also said greater law enforcement is
needed blaming crime on terrorists he said
00:24:34
those who criticize the country are jealous
of its success however many in Uganda
00:24:40
say was 70 who has been in office 32 years
increasingly is trying to shut down
00:24:47
critics and the political opposition
lawmaker Robert Chugg Lani popularly known
00:24:54
as Bobby wine is among them he told v.o.a.
00:24:58
Yesterday there's really nothing to
celebrate because Ugandans are fighting the
00:25:03
same battles that their forefathers fought
to gain independence from Great but it
00:25:09
in Bobby wine says Ugandans under 32
years of most of any rule have been
00:25:15
marginalized in their own country.

Sonny Young in Washington well.
The sunny side of sports the
00:28:33
qualifying competition for next year's
Africa Cup of Nations football tournament
00:28:38
and Cameroon resumes on Wednesday
with matches in Zambia and
00:28:45
Ethiopia and dolla 2012 Nations
Cup champions Zambia is at
00:28:51
home against Guinea Bissau now in
00:28:54
a group Kate contest Guinea-Bissau now
in Mozambique currently top the group
00:29:00
standings each team has 4 points
from 2 qualifiers Zambia and Namibia
00:29:07
have $1.00 Mozambique will host Namibia
in the other group match on Saturday
00:29:14
and. The top 2 teams in the group will
qualify for next year's tournament in
00:29:20
Cameroon. Our Voice of America
football fans will remember Cameroon
00:29:27
2019 will be the 1st Nations
Cup expanded from 16 to
00:29:34
24 teams Meanwhile in but
here Dhar on Wednesday
00:29:40
Ethiopia will play neighbor
Kenya in a group f.
00:29:45
Fixture now this is
00:29:46
a very tight group right now Ghana
Kenya and Ethiopia each have 3
00:29:53
points from 2 matches and Sierra Leone
is at the bottom with no points the
00:29:59
Leone stars of Sierra Leone are scheduled
to visit Guyana on Thursday but that
00:30:06
qualifier to be played in commodity is
in jeopardy right now world football's
00:30:12
governing body Fifi suspended Sierra Leone
4 days ago for government interference
00:30:20
Sierra Leone has appealed the suspension
for reaction to the suspension
00:30:26
reporter Iron Mike M.-Bone Yes spoke with
the sports editor of The News Agency of
00:30:31
Nigeria Peter Damian
00:30:34
a geo for it is already Mooney by us because
of the amendment of the nation it's
00:30:40
a good development for football in Africa
book no banning I said the us government
00:30:47
in deference to crises in the moneyed Mendo
football in Africa in fact it's also
00:30:53
responsible for Milan ministration on
a contact in an on show corruption
00:30:58
a similar thing almost happened to make you
around them but the 2 countries quickly
00:31:03
will beat the deadline given by Fifa What
do you think African countries should do
00:31:08
to stop the wind from government
interference and the symptom sells from 50
00:31:13
suspension African countries. From these
developments and begin to walk for
00:31:20
the financial India. Tendency of football
governing bodies in the countries where
00:31:25
financial independence issues of my land
ministration corruption and accountability
00:31:32
and all of that issues that lead to
00:31:34
a crisis in football management will be
eliminated because those who is take down
00:31:38
money in football would want to ask
questions about how good ball is wrong so I
00:31:44
think that the 1st in the issue is to seek
financial independence of the food bow
00:31:50
governing bodies in the Al respective
countries if that is done those bodies were
00:31:55
numb begin to get funding by themselves
I give you an example in Nigeria for
00:32:01
instance when my droopy Nick became the
president of the Niger awful both attrition
00:32:06
he mediately set out to walk to get sponsors
for Nigerian food we have examples in
00:32:12
NY to cope which is sponsored by the energy
company we have Coca-Cola and we have
00:32:19
seen his administration attract
00:32:21
a lot of goodwill from companies here in
Nigeria for instance Kleeneze most of our
00:32:26
dance so I think they should work for
financial independence once they secured that
00:32:31
everyone that enfolds in place the you
think there are governments in Africa we
00:32:36
want to be still we're in the role of
football administration in the continent do
00:32:40
you foresee that I don't as long as they
want solely funding football especially at
00:32:46
the national level I don't see them not
interfering because he would buy about the
00:32:52
destitution So one thing we should all
fight for is to make these bodies
00:32:58
independent get their own phones and run
for their own way on their own terms and
00:33:04
for Syria has received
00:33:06
a if if I am I know what you think we should
do to overcome it it's very simple day
00:33:10
should ensure that the president Johansen
and the secretary address start to
00:33:17
office and me to
00:33:18
a lot of conditions attached to it like
giving them access to. I mean the station
00:33:23
access to the prince's access to the Buddies
accounts now is doing the with Nick on
00:33:30
and I don't think I've been that's Peter

a women's Bolland door trophy will be

00:35:40
Orlando pride striker Marta who won
Fifi best female player award in
00:35:47
London last month I'm Sonny young and
you're listening to the sunny side of
00:35:54
sports on the Voice of America.
Well sometimes football
00:36:01
is more than just a game it's
00:36:03
a way of life that expresses the true
spirit of the team and its community that's
00:36:10
the underlying message behind Amy
Bass's new book one goal a coach
00:36:16
a team and the game that brought
00:36:18
a divided town together
it's the inspiring story of
00:36:23
a group of teenage Somali
refugees in the northeastern u.s.
00:36:28
State of Maine who joined the Lewiston
high school soccer team and overcame
00:36:34
prejudice and other obstacles to help the
squad when the 2015 state championship.
00:36:41
In her conversation with Vo ways Adam
Philips Bass said that one goal is that
00:36:48
actually about 2 games
00:36:50
a game is the game of soccer the most
global of sports but it's also about
00:36:54
a very specific game that took place in
the fall of 2015 when the Lewiston Blue
00:36:58
Devils went to seek their 1st state
championship title in soccer with
00:37:04
a very different kind of roster tell me a
bit about Louis Louis to me and it was
00:37:08
a largely French Canadian town
00:37:10
a former factory town textile industry the
bottom fell out when factories closed
00:37:16
and moved out of the northeast so it was
00:37:18
a town that had seen better days
and in 2001 a couple and then
00:37:23
a couple 100 and then
00:37:24
a couple thousands Molly refugees found
their way to Lewiston taking advantage of
00:37:29
available apartments that had high
vacancy rates and good schools and
00:37:32
a safe community to begin to continue their
lives and raise their families in the
00:37:37
United States and some of these kids have
found their way to the soccer team soccer
00:37:42
is
00:37:42
a passion and this story is about this
coming together of community and family and
00:37:48
team in this quest for this state title
and what it means to this community and
00:37:53
what it represents you know community is
not just about statistics it's also about
00:37:58
a feeling a feeling of home and a
feeling of belonging and that's
00:38:01
a priority here still you said there were
lots and lots of growing pains at least
00:38:05
at 1st I mean it's hard to think of 2
cultures that are more different than small
00:38:08
in culture these people came from and they
needed New Englanders they founded post
00:38:13
dust you know Lewiston Maine you know
I mean land surface is very much
00:38:16
a fish out of water story you know people's
reaction is why are there Africans in
00:38:20
Maine it's such
00:38:21
a cold state it's an overwhelmingly white
state in the early days you had moments
00:38:25
like when the former mayor wrote an open
letter to the Somali community saying you
00:38:29
know we support you but please tell your
friends and family to stop coming weeks
00:38:33
and have anymore and so that's a
painful moment but it's followed by
00:38:36
a coming together
00:38:37
a giant rally that the community puts
together kids. Of saying no you know we are
00:38:42
many and we are one so there's something
00:38:44
a bit more to it than either the 2 groups
polarizing or sort of becoming one
00:38:49
homogeneity group without
distinctions it's really
00:38:52
a negotiation amongst different peoples
to find a path forward and there's
00:38:58
a lot of culture clash but Maine is the
oldest median age in the United States and
00:39:04
to have folks who are interested in laying
roots and raising families and having
00:39:09
their families raise families was
00:39:11
a shot in the arm that Louis didn't need
in terms of attracting business and
00:39:15
attracting industry in the city that
hadn't seen that for a very long time in
00:39:19
a state that doesn't see that
of course it's not really
00:39:23
a quick moment with both the Lewis and
community and the Somalis have both
00:39:27
experienced trauma and displacement the
small ways obviously because of war and
00:39:31
famine and cetera but the loosened
folks had also been through
00:39:35
a lot I could understand perhaps why
least at 1st it might have been some
00:39:39
resentment against the refugees Lucent
has had decades and decades of white
00:39:44
intergenerational poverty as some of the
poorest neighborhoods in Maine and there
00:39:49
is that sort of competitive What are these
new people getting that I'm not getting
00:39:53
so this is great back when it's know about
the growth in integration within the
00:39:57
Lewis and high school I do there are lots
of racist slurs and things the opposing
00:40:02
teams used but it seems like people got
together pretty well within Lewis and
00:40:05
itself similarly started coming on to
the team in the mid to early 2000 just
00:40:10
a few at
00:40:11
a time and the book sort of details some
of those early players coming on and
00:40:15
different kinds of accommodations that the
ethnic department had to think about in
00:40:19
terms of you know diet in Ramadan and
how to integrate players and create
00:40:24
relationships amongst players but slowly
the Somali players began to dominate the
00:40:30
varsity roster I know
that soccer was in such
00:40:33
a huge deal and all of Lewiston before
the Somalis arrived then began to really
00:40:37
shine correct Lewiston said championship
back into. At the championship
00:40:42
cheerleading town and
slowly soccer was becoming
00:40:45
a marquee sport they make it to the state
championship in 2014 they suffered
00:40:50
a devastating loss and you know the day
after that loss the next season begins
00:40:55
because they are determined that they're
going to be the ones to bring this city
00:41:00
its 1st championship in this sport and
it's really an all hands on deck kind of
00:41:04
effort to have
00:41:05
a high school coach is working but the
families and the supporters of the team we
00:41:09
see community organizations you know
Somali founded community organizations are
00:41:13
sponsoring soccer programs and
supporting youth and we see
00:41:17
a bridging of cultures amongst coaches
you know the long time head coach of
00:41:21
a high school team hiring objects of our
Hersey the 1st Somali hired by the lucerne
00:41:26
athletic department he is the Son of God's
will and he is sort of the coach of
00:41:30
everyone in the city
00:41:31
a mentor of everyone so it's really about
thinking about what these kids in this
00:41:36
community bring to the game and it isn't
that soccer replaces hockey in this main
00:41:41
city it's that now it's
00:41:42
a hockey and soccer town that was
Amy bass author of one goal a coach
00:41:48
a team and the game that brought
00:41:50
a divided town together she spoke with
Vo ways Adam Phillips and New York I'm
00:41:57
Sonny Young in Washington and you're listening
to those sunny side of sports on the
00:42:04
Voice of America.
00:42:14

00:42:22
My v.o.a.
00:42:22
Colleague when Newton joins us now with
some news about the Shanghai Masters men's
00:42:29
tennis tournament which is underway in
China sporty greetings. Sporty Greetings
00:42:35
sunny Argentine Juan Martinez Poto Germany's
Alexanders the Vera. And defending
00:42:42
champion Roger Federer of Switzerland are
featured in the tournament Spain's Rafael
00:42:48
Nadal the man Federer defeated in
last year's final is recovering from
00:42:52
a knee injury and is not there but he's
been replaced by Serbian Novak Djokovic who
00:42:59
on Tuesday defeated Frenchman Jeremy day
for the 12th straight time Djokovic spoke
00:43:05
after the match and said he feels like
he's playing at top form Well I'm very
00:43:10
grateful to play in
00:43:11
a high level I think. Very close
to my best and. Best changes
00:43:19
so I can always strive to be the best I
can be given the. Today's performance
00:43:26
was pretty close to the joke of it
played his 1st match on the a.t.p.
00:43:31
Tour since winning his 14th Grand Slam title
at last month's us open and Tuesday's
00:43:37
win marks the 14th consecutive victory on
the hard court Djoko said after having
00:43:43
surgery These are good signs he's making
00:43:46
a full recovery. Beginning of the year.
00:43:56
To play my best. That has changed.
The more comfortable and.
00:44:05
That's the case for everyone also in the
spotlight but for very different reason
00:44:11
Australia Nick created controversy for 3rd
straight year in Shanghai going against
00:44:18
an Instagram message he posted ahead of
the tournaments with the caption I'll be
00:44:22
good I promise on Monday curious faced
American Bradley Cullen and in his defense
00:44:28
curious was good for about 30 minutes then
early in the 2nd set curious was issued
00:44:35
a soft warning for what the chair umpire
called his borderline effort to which
00:44:40
curious. Reportedly responded I don't care
you have no right to tell me that it's
00:44:45
poor alternately though his game unraveled
incurious lost his 1st round match
00:44:51
466463 Roger Federer has been an
outspoken critic of carious and in
00:44:57
a media conference ahead of his 1st match
Federer said whether or not Kerry is ever
00:45:02
reaches his full potential is entirely up
to him time will tell you know I I think
00:45:08
he's
00:45:08
a great player and I feel also he can you
know when bigger tournaments and do all
00:45:14
these things but there's still
00:45:16
a process in place that he needs to do like
any other player needs to go through to
00:45:20
be able to be successful Federer currently
ranked number 2 in the world is hungry
00:45:25
for a win following his
elimination at last month's u.s.
00:45:28
Open and he says he's ready to defend his
title in Shanghai I feel like I'm I'm
00:45:34
where I want to be. I know this
is where I could be playing
00:45:39
a lot of tennis you know depending on how
I play so there's still some of this is
00:45:43
some girls left for the season Shanghai
is likely to be Federer's final Masters
00:45:47
great tournaments of the year he said
he has no plans to play in the Masters
00:45:52
$1000.00 tournaments in Paris later this
month and he says it feels good to be in
00:45:57
the season's homestretch Yeah. I like this
part of the season as you know it's been
00:46:03
always
00:46:03
a good season for me because this is going
faster I'm not sure if i've always energy
00:46:09
left in the tank or you
know it's helpful to have
00:46:12
a home tournament the World Tour final
is where it is and on the surface I
00:46:18
displayed on but I've been very successful
so clearly I hope for something similar
00:46:22
again this year Federer also spoke about
00:46:24
a match at the Sens and open last week in
China where Spaniard Fernando Verdasco
00:46:31
appeared to berate
00:46:32
a ball boy for not bringing him his towel
quickly enough video of the incident lit
00:46:38
up social media and followers expressed
their few. Over what they regarded as
00:46:43
Verdasco intimidating behavior Federer
stopped short of criticizing for Das go but
00:46:49
called on tennis players to show their
respect for ball boys and girls Federer who
00:46:54
was once himself
00:46:56
a ball boy said although young helpers
understand the amount of pressure the
00:47:00
players are under it is
important that they too have
00:47:04
a good experience at tournaments on court
helpers handing players their towels
00:47:09
drinks and anything else they need is
00:47:11
a fairly new phenomena not so long ago
tennis legends like American John McEnroe
00:47:17
and Sweden's Bjorn Borg had to take care
of themselves during changeovers and that
00:47:22
idea could be making a comeback next
month that next generation a.t.p.

00:08:21
The u.s.
00:08:22
Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki
Haley today announced she would resign at
00:08:28
the end of the year President Donald
Trump praised her work at the u.n.
00:08:32
And in the administration Haley said she
was proud of our work and that now the
00:08:37
u.s.
00:08:38
Is respected internationally she thanked the
president and his family for their support
00:08:44
she did not say what she planned to do
next via ways White House correspondent
00:08:49
Patsy would across the water spoke with our
colleague Kate Poland Boston about the
00:08:54
surprise announcement Well
what we know is that that was
00:08:58
a very effusive send off from the president
and this is very different from the
00:09:03
usual cabinet 2nd cabinet member leaving
his or her post President Trump spoke very
00:09:09
highly of embassador Hayley and she and
he did say that you know she mentioned 6
00:09:15
months ago that she was thinking about
taking some time off and basically we don't
00:09:19
really know much about the resignation other
than what was said today at the press
00:09:24
conference which is
00:09:25
a she's saying until the end of the
year and also that she is. Leaving
00:09:33
not just for personal reasons because her
family is so supportive of her but she
00:09:38
just said and I quote I know that when
it's time to step aside and she also wants
00:09:43
to make war to make sure that this
administration has the best person to fight this
00:09:48
fight at the United Nations so we don't
really know what that means the other thing
00:09:53
that she mentioned was that she believed
in term limits and she's also saying that
00:09:58
she is not running and 2020 as
00:10:01
a presidential candidate now we
know that as journalists whenever
00:10:04
a politician says that they're not running
it just makes us want. Watch them more
00:10:08
because they always say that they're not
running until they do President Trump said
00:10:12
that he will appoint
00:10:14
a new successor in 2 or 3 weeks again
there's already so much speculation on that
00:10:18
person as well what was her role
in setting porn policy as the u.n.
00:10:24
Ambassador when the how he is certainly
someone that is very trusted in Tom circle
00:10:30
and she's also widely regarded as one of
the strongest members of the president's
00:10:34
foreign policy team and I I do recall
that when she accepted the job as u.n.
00:10:39
Ambassador she requested specifically to
President Trump that she will be involved
00:10:43
in policy and decision making process and
he did grant her that request but we also
00:10:48
have to remember that she's
00:10:49
a very early and frequent critic of Trump
on issues like racism on the Muslim ban
00:10:55
we have to remember remember that she's
00:10:57
a daughter of an immigrant for South
and that background may perhaps affect
00:11:00
a world view and during
her one year one and
00:11:04
a half years on the job she has repeatedly
spoken her mind in some cases quite
00:11:09
against the president's policies himself
you know Ambassador Haley has visited
00:11:14
Africa and was involved in
00:11:15
a number of issues concerning the continent
was her stance on Africa seen as
00:11:22
being different than that of the White House
I would say that her stance on Africa
00:11:27
is different from the White House in the
in the sense that it is more nuanced The
00:11:31
general perception is that the
Trump White House does not put
00:11:35
a lot of emphasis on Africa does not see
Africa beyond the lenses of countering
00:11:40
China's influence or helping in the fight
against terrorism or humanitarian aid
00:11:45
which President Trump has proposed to cut
I think embassador Hal Hal you saw Africa
00:11:51
as much more than this as we can see from
her op at before departing on her 2017
00:11:56
African trip where she
argued that the u.s.
00:11:59
Interest in Africa are not just humanitarian
but also economic and strategic you
00:12:05
would recall that Howley visits and
even. South Sudan and the d.r.s.
00:12:09
In 2017 to review u.s.
00:12:11
Supported un peacekeeping mission there
assess conflict resolution in South Sudan
00:12:16
and also delayed elections in the d.r.s.
00:12:18
Sea and she delivered a very strong message
to the leaders of South Sudan and the
00:12:22
d r c that the u.s.
00:12:23
Would hold them accountable for their actions
so the general consensus consensus on
00:12:28
Africa is that she redeemed previous gaffes
the previous missteps from Trump and
00:12:33
the administration on Africa her stance is
definitely more nuanced I think she was
00:12:38
able to translate
00:12:39
a lot of the policy that was not very much
well articulated from the White House on
00:12:45
on the un on Africa that was White House
correspondent Patsy. Speaking with Kate
00:12:51
pound Dawson.

00:19:01
African women conservationists across the
continent are taking the lead to protect
00:19:06
elephants through the elephant protection
initiative also known as when men from
00:19:11
various African countries are working
together to reduce the plummeting populations
00:19:16
of elephants despite their differing
political and social environments while
00:19:21
inspiring
00:19:22
a new generation of conservationists these
women are pushing for the implementation
00:19:27
of the National elephant action plans drawn
up by African governments to protect
00:19:32
their elephant populations
the initiative will be
00:19:35
a major player at the illegal wildlife
trafficking conference taking place in
00:19:39
London October 11th and 12th Dr Wendy Kira
is the technical advisor for the e.p.i.
00:19:46
She spoke with me about the importance
of this initiative. It brings to give
00:19:51
a very high level political will for
Ellison conservation because it is
00:19:55
a presidential led initiative it brings
together heads of state in these tests from
00:20:01
Africa to speak about Elephant Conservation
The 2nd thing way it's important is
00:20:06
that from 4 years ago when it was touted
it has been able to good rule from 5
00:20:12
countries to 19 countries in this
country to present the largest elephant
00:20:18
populations in Africa so we have Kenya
we have built one now we have times on
00:20:23
a mission to the south all
countries that have very like
00:20:26
a simple commission so when you bring
together that kind of pollen and initiative
00:20:31
political power I think that what
you're saying is that you can make
00:20:35
a difference that's what the e.p.i.
00:20:37
Hopes to do why have women taken on this
type of challenge I would say that in the
00:20:43
consolation world not all there are many
women that have reason through the wrong
00:20:50
farm policy and that look if you live well
I'm talking about some Ministry of your
00:20:55
level of technical advice or
00:20:57
a level boots on the ground you know women
need security services and the reason I
00:21:02
think is just the
realisation that wildlife
00:21:06
a wildlife resource is everybody's business
everybody has just to have hung on the
00:21:11
back it is not culturally easy for women
in Africa to get involved in the field of
00:21:17
conservation because by nature conservation
takes you away from home conservation
00:21:22
puts you in dangerous situations in the
field conservation puts you at the table
00:21:28
with
00:21:29
a large percentage of men and for your voice
to be had you have to really be strong
00:21:35
and so it is
00:21:36
a really moving away from the cultural
construct of the African woman why do we do
00:21:41
this because we have to because we must
we recognise that our voice must be heard
00:21:47
as far as conservation in Africa. Johnson
What progress are you making in getting
00:21:53
the national Allison action plans implemented
nationally to fund action plans our
00:21:58
vision fitting for time to
enough because it's been
00:22:01
a long journey some when we 1st thought
about this national in the front of some
00:22:04
crimes because it's really
00:22:06
a 2 years ago but after that came together
and thought we need some from for
00:22:11
Africa's elephants It took a long
time for the countries to get to give
00:22:15
a because they left from vehicle they left
00:22:17
a forum where they could focus clearly on
nationally to find out some plan when the
00:22:22
elephant protection initiative came
to be it became a pillar of e.p.i.
00:22:27
To ensure that countries develop national
If on top some fronts we have walked
00:22:31
slowly with members of elephant protection
initiative and we're happy to say that
00:22:36
during this on them conference we have
00:22:38
a package of 7 complete nationalism
runs by complete we mean an action plan
00:22:45
with an implementation plan and the resource
mobilization front when we budgeted to
00:22:51
the extent that any do not
complete up the document pick up
00:22:54
a few projects and pay out what this band
is it's important because it brings the
00:22:59
whole of thought around and it's on
conservation in one document you are there at
00:23:04
the wildlife trafficking conference in
London so what are the expectations
00:23:09
regarding putting elephant protection as
00:23:12
a main priority they are the elephant
protection initiative was launched 4 years
00:23:18
ago at the illegal wildlife trade conference
that was held in London the e.p.a.
00:23:22
Was launched by 5 presidents now we have
19 heads of state and them in the so said
00:23:28
health science in this initiative
00:23:29
a good number of family will be present at
this conference we expect that when this
00:23:35
kind of political will come by and we've
00:23:38
a lot of global friends who are also going
to be in the conference don't that's
00:23:42
a tough historically supported and of some
protection expect that when the see how
00:23:47
often to has to come together and the
pa why they've put behind Elephant
00:23:51
Conservation the Vis is going to result
in resources that we badly need to
00:23:56
implement these plans. That was Dr Wendy
she's the technical advisor for the
00:24:02
elephant protective initiative
she spoke with me from London.

Ethiopia and dolla 2012 Nations

home against Guinea Bissau now in
00:28:54
a group Kate contest Guinea-Bissau now
in Mozambique currently top the group
00:29:00
standings each team has 4 points
from 2 qualifiers Zambia and Namibia
00:29:07
have $1.00 Mozambique will host Namibia
in the other group match on Saturday
00:29:14
and. The top 2 teams in the group will
qualify for next year's tournament in
00:29:20
Cameroon. Our Voice of America
football fans will remember Cameroon
00:29:27
2019 will be the 1st Nations
Cup expanded from 16 to
00:29:34
24 teams Meanwhile in but
here Dhar on Wednesday
00:29:40
Ethiopia will play neighbor
Kenya in a group f.
00:29:45
Fixture now this is
00:29:46
a very tight group right now Ghana
Kenya and Ethiopia each have 3
00:29:53
points from 2 matches and Sierra Leone
is at the bottom with no points the
00:29:59
Leone stars of Sierra Leone are scheduled
to visit Guyana on Thursday but that
00:30:06
qualifier to be played in commodity is
in jeopardy right now world football's
00:30:12
governing body Fifi suspended Sierra Leone
4 days ago for government interference
00:30:20
Sierra Leone has appealed the suspension
for reaction to the suspension
00:30:26
reporter Iron Mike M.-Bone Yes spoke with
the sports editor of The News Agency of
00:30:31
Nigeria Peter Damian
00:30:34
a geo for it is already Mooney by us because
of the amendment of the nation it's
00:30:40
a good development for football in Africa
book no banning I said the us government
00:30:47
in deference to crises in the moneyed Mendo
football in Africa in fact it's also
00:30:53
responsible for Milan ministration on
a contact in an on show corruption
00:30:58
a similar thing almost happened to make you
around them but the 2 countries quickly
00:31:03
will beat the deadline given by Fifa What
do you think African countries should do
00:31:08
to stop the wind from government
interference and the symptom sells from 50
00:31:13
suspension African countries. From these
developments and begin to walk for
00:31:20
the financial India. Tendency of football
governing bodies in the countries where
00:31:25
financial independence issues of my land
ministration corruption and accountability
00:31:32
and all of that issues that lead to
00:31:34
a crisis in football management will be
eliminated because those who is take down
00:31:38
money in football would want to ask
questions about how good ball is wrong so I
00:31:44
think that the 1st in the issue is to seek
financial independence of the food bow
00:31:50
governing bodies in the Al respective
countries if that is done those bodies were
00:31:55
numb begin to get funding by themselves
I give you an example in Nigeria for
00:32:01
instance when my droopy Nick became the
president of the Niger awful both attrition
00:32:06
he mediately set out to walk to get sponsors
for Nigerian food we have examples in
00:32:12
NY to cope which is sponsored by the energy
company we have Coca-Cola and we have
00:32:19
seen his administration attract
00:32:21
a lot of goodwill from companies here in
Nigeria for instance Kleeneze most of our
00:32:26
dance so I think they should work for
financial independence once they secured that
00:32:31
everyone that enfolds in place the you
think there are governments in Africa we
00:32:36
want to be still we're in the role of
football administration in the continent do
00:32:40
you foresee that I don't as long as they
want solely funding football especially at
00:32:46
the national level I don't see them not
interfering because he would buy about the
00:32:52
destitution So one thing we should all
fight for is to make these bodies
00:32:58
independent get their own phones and run
for their own way on their own terms and
00:33:04
for Syria has received
00:33:06
a if if I am I know what you think we should
do to overcome it it's very simple day
00:33:10
should ensure that the president Johansen
and the secretary address start to
00:33:17
office and me to
00:33:18
a lot of conditions attached to it like
giving them access to. I mean the station
00:33:23
access to the prince's access to the Buddies
accounts now is doing the with Nick on
00:33:30
and I don't think I've been that's Peter

London last month I'm Sonny young and
you're listening to the sunny side of
00:35:54
sports on the Voice of America.
Well sometimes football
00:36:01
is more than just a game it's
00:36:03
a way of life that expresses the true
spirit of the team and its community that's
00:36:10
the underlying message behind Amy
Bass's new book one goal a coach
00:36:16
a team and the game that brought
00:36:18
a divided town together
it's the inspiring story of
00:36:23
a group of teenage Somali
refugees in the northeastern u.s.
00:36:28
State of Maine who joined the Lewiston
high school soccer team and overcame
00:36:34
prejudice and other obstacles to help the
squad when the 2015 state championship.
00:36:41
In her conversation with Vo ways Adam
Philips Bass said that one goal is that
00:36:48
actually about 2 games
00:36:50
a game is the game of soccer the most
global of sports but it's also about
00:36:54
a very specific game that took place in
the fall of 2015 when the Lewiston Blue
00:36:58
Devils went to seek their 1st state
championship title in soccer with
00:37:04
a very different kind of roster tell me a
bit about Louis Louis to me and it was
00:37:08
a largely French Canadian town
00:37:10
a former factory town textile industry the
bottom fell out when factories closed
00:37:16
and moved out of the northeast so it was
00:37:18
a town that had seen better days
and in 2001 a couple and then
00:37:23
a couple 100 and then
00:37:24
a couple thousands Molly refugees found
their way to Lewiston taking advantage of
00:37:29
available apartments that had high
vacancy rates and good schools and
00:37:32
a safe community to begin to continue their
lives and raise their families in the
00:37:37
United States and some of these kids have
found their way to the soccer team soccer
00:37:42
is
00:37:42
a passion and this story is about this
coming together of community and family and
00:37:48
team in this quest for this state title
and what it means to this community and
00:37:53
what it represents you know community is
not just about statistics it's also about
00:37:58
a feeling a feeling of home and a
feeling of belonging and that's
00:38:01
a priority here still you said there were
lots and lots of growing pains at least
00:38:05
at 1st I mean it's hard to think of 2
cultures that are more different than small
00:38:08
in culture these people came from and they
needed New Englanders they founded post
00:38:13
dust you know Lewiston Maine you know
I mean land surface is very much
00:38:16
a fish out of water story you know people's
reaction is why are there Africans in
00:38:20
Maine it's such
00:38:21
a cold state it's an overwhelmingly white
state in the early days you had moments
00:38:25
like when the former mayor wrote an open
letter to the Somali community saying you
00:38:29
know we support you but please tell your
friends and family to stop coming weeks
00:38:33
and have anymore and so that's a
painful moment but it's followed by
00:38:36
a coming together
00:38:37
a giant rally that the community puts
together kids. Of saying no you know we are
00:38:42
many and we are one so there's something
00:38:44
a bit more to it than either the 2 groups
polarizing or sort of becoming one
00:38:49
homogeneity group without
distinctions it's really
00:38:52
a negotiation amongst different peoples
to find a path forward and there's
00:38:58
a lot of culture clash but Maine is the
oldest median age in the United States and
00:39:04
to have folks who are interested in laying
roots and raising families and having
00:39:09
their families raise families was
00:39:11
a shot in the arm that Louis didn't need
in terms of attracting business and
00:39:15
attracting industry in the city that
hadn't seen that for a very long time in
00:39:19
a state that doesn't see that
of course it's not really
00:39:23
a quick moment with both the Lewis and
community and the Somalis have both
00:39:27
experienced trauma and displacement the
small ways obviously because of war and
00:39:31
famine and cetera but the loosened
folks had also been through
00:39:35
a lot I could understand perhaps why
least at 1st it might have been some
00:39:39
resentment against the refugees Lucent
has had decades and decades of white
00:39:44
intergenerational poverty as some of the
poorest neighborhoods in Maine and there
00:39:49
is that sort of competitive What are these
new people getting that I'm not getting
00:39:53
so this is great back when it's know about
the growth in integration within the
00:39:57
Lewis and high school I do there are lots
of racist slurs and things the opposing
00:40:02
teams used but it seems like people got
together pretty well within Lewis and
00:40:05
itself similarly started coming on to
the team in the mid to early 2000 just
00:40:10
a few at
00:40:11
a time and the book sort of details some
of those early players coming on and
00:40:15
different kinds of accommodations that the
ethnic department had to think about in
00:40:19
terms of you know diet in Ramadan and
how to integrate players and create
00:40:24
relationships amongst players but slowly
the Somali players began to dominate the
00:40:30
varsity roster I know
that soccer was in such
00:40:33
a huge deal and all of Lewiston before
the Somalis arrived then began to really
00:40:37
shine correct Lewiston said championship
back into. At the championship
00:40:42
cheerleading town and
slowly soccer was becoming
00:40:45
a marquee sport they make it to the state
championship in 2014 they suffered
00:40:50
a devastating loss and you know the day
after that loss the next season begins
00:40:55
because they are determined that they're
going to be the ones to bring this city
00:41:00
its 1st championship in this sport and
it's really an all hands on deck kind of
00:41:04
effort to have
00:41:05
a high school coach is working but the
families and the supporters of the team we
00:41:09
see community organizations you know
Somali founded community organizations are
00:41:13
sponsoring soccer programs and
supporting youth and we see
00:41:17
a bridging of cultures amongst coaches
you know the long time head coach of
00:41:21
a high school team hiring objects of our
Hersey the 1st Somali hired by the lucerne
00:41:26
athletic department he is the Son of God's
will and he is sort of the coach of
00:41:30
everyone in the city
00:41:31
a mentor of everyone so it's really about
thinking about what these kids in this
00:41:36
community bring to the game and it isn't
that soccer replaces hockey in this main
00:41:41
city it's that now it's
00:41:42
a hockey and soccer town that was
Amy bass author of one goal a coach
00:41:48
a team and the game that brought
00:41:50
a divided town together she spoke with
Vo ways Adam Phillips and New York I'm

Colleague when Newton joins us now with
some news about the Shanghai Masters men's
00:42:29
tennis tournament which is underway in
China sporty greetings. Sporty Greetings
00:42:35
sunny Argentine Juan Martinez Poto Germany's
Alexanders the Vera. And defending
00:42:42
champion Roger Federer of Switzerland are
featured in the tournament Spain's Rafael
00:42:48
Nadal the man Federer defeated in
last year's final is recovering from
00:42:52
a knee injury and is not there but he's
been replaced by Serbian Novak Djokovic who
00:42:59
on Tuesday defeated Frenchman Jeremy day
for the 12th straight time Djokovic spoke
00:43:05
after the match and said he feels like
he's playing at top form Well I'm very
00:43:10
grateful to play in
00:43:11
a high level I think. Very close
to my best and. Best changes
00:43:19
so I can always strive to be the best I
can be given the. Today's performance
00:43:26
was pretty close to the joke of it
played his 1st match on the a.t.p.
00:43:31
Tour since winning his 14th Grand Slam title
at last month's us open and Tuesday's
00:43:37
win marks the 14th consecutive victory on
the hard court Djoko said after having
00:43:43
surgery These are good signs he's making
00:43:46
a full recovery. Beginning of the year.
00:43:56
To play my best. That has changed.
The more comfortable and.
00:44:05
That's the case for everyone also in the
spotlight but for very different reason
00:44:11
Australia Nick created controversy for 3rd
straight year in Shanghai going against
00:44:18
an Instagram message he posted ahead of
the tournaments with the caption I'll be
00:44:22
good I promise on Monday curious faced
American Bradley Cullen and in his defense
00:44:28
curious was good for about 30 minutes then
early in the 2nd set curious was issued
00:44:35
a soft warning for what the chair umpire
called his borderline effort to which
00:44:40
curious. Reportedly responded I don't care
you have no right to tell me that it's
00:44:45
poor alternately though his game unraveled
incurious lost his 1st round match
00:44:51
466463 Roger Federer has been an
outspoken critic of carious and in
00:44:57
a media conference ahead of his 1st match
Federer said whether or not Kerry is ever
00:45:02
reaches his full potential is entirely up
to him time will tell you know I I think
00:45:08
he's
00:45:08
a great player and I feel also he can you
know when bigger tournaments and do all
00:45:14
these things but there's still
00:45:16
a process in place that he needs to do like
any other player needs to go through to
00:45:20
be able to be successful Federer currently
ranked number 2 in the world is hungry
00:45:25
for a win following his
elimination at last month's u.s.
00:45:28
Open and he says he's ready to defend his
title in Shanghai I feel like I'm I'm
00:45:34
where I want to be. I know this
is where I could be playing
00:45:39
a lot of tennis you know depending on how
I play so there's still some of this is
00:45:43
some girls left for the season Shanghai
is likely to be Federer's final Masters
00:45:47
great tournaments of the year he said
he has no plans to play in the Masters
00:45:52
$1000.00 tournaments in Paris later this
month and he says it feels good to be in
00:45:57
the season's homestretch Yeah. I like this
part of the season as you know it's been
00:46:03
always
00:46:03
a good season for me because this is going
faster I'm not sure if i've always energy
00:46:09
left in the tank or you
know it's helpful to have
00:46:12
a home tournament the World Tour final
is where it is and on the surface I
00:46:18
displayed on but I've been very successful
so clearly I hope for something similar
00:46:22
again this year Federer also spoke about
00:46:24
a match at the Sens and open last week in
China where Spaniard Fernando Verdasco
00:46:31
appeared to berate
00:46:32
a ball boy for not bringing him his towel
quickly enough video of the incident lit
00:46:38
up social media and followers expressed
their few. Over what they regarded as
00:46:43
Verdasco intimidating behavior Federer
stopped short of criticizing for Das go but
00:46:49
called on tennis players to show their
respect for ball boys and girls Federer who
00:46:54
was once himself
00:46:56
a ball boy said although young helpers
understand the amount of pressure the
00:47:00
players are under it is
important that they too have
00:47:04
a good experience at tournaments on court
helpers handing players their towels
00:47:09
drinks and anything else they need is
00:47:11
a fairly new phenomena not so long ago
tennis legends like American John McEnroe
00:47:17
and Sweden's Bjorn Borg had to take care
of themselves during changeovers and that
00:47:22
idea could be making a comeback next
month that next generation a.t.p.
00:47:27
Finals youth tournament in Milan towel
racks will replace ball kids at the end of
00:47:33
the court in one final bit of controversy
3 chair umpire is from Thailand have been
00:47:40
banned for life the umpires were found
guilty of match fixing and manipulating
00:47:45
scores at i
00:47:47
t f futures tournaments in 2017 the
tennis Integrity Unit released
00:47:52
a statement on Monday and mounting the
sanctions it said all 3 on pyres have
00:47:57
admitted the breaches and the lifetime
bans are effective immediately and that's
00:48:02
all for me sonny back over to

00:49:26
the series and he became the 1st player in

00:50:12
games to one shortstop Manny Machado's
sealed the Dodgers victory with
00:50:18
a 3 run homer in the 7th inning that by
luck they're not serious I mean obviously
00:50:23
the results haven't shown. You know each
other stick with the same approach not try
00:50:27
to change anything. I think you put yourself
and say and best choice that you try
00:50:32
to change and you know today I was just
able to you know make make our contact
00:50:36
